NWAF Team Joining you in Cleveland
Friday 1/31/2014
Dear Native Employee-owned Enterprise Development Pilot Project Members,
Greetings from the coldest major city in the United States! I hope everyone is warm, well and ready for another great Learning/Action Lab in Cleveland, OH. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and to hearing about the continued progress you are making.
As you know, The Democracy Collaborative team is working hard to put together a meaningful and fun time for us in Cleveland. I also wanted to let you know that we will be joined by a rather large delegation of NWAF senior staff. I have been working to have the Foundation learn more about and further embrace Community Wealth Building(CWB) strategies and models in its work. Cooperatives, ESOPS and social enterprises are, of course, strategies that we are interested in learning more about, particularly from your vantage point as you begin redefining and developing your own CWB strategies.
I am pleased to say that Kevin Walker, President and CEO; Gary Cunnigham,Vice President of Programs and all the NWAF program officers will be attending the Learning/Action Lab. Trust me when I say- this is unique! The intent of the Foundation is to learn more about the Evergreen model and the role the Cleveland Foundation played in its development and to learn about the specific enterprise projects that you all are beginning to develop in Indian Country. Please know, I have invited our Foundation team to learn from you! It is important that we hear about your experiences, challenges, opportunities, cautions, excitements, and needs as it relates to this effort.
Ahéhee’ (Thank you) again for your continued commitment to strengthening Indian Country and improving the quality of life for Native people.
Sincerely,
Justin Huenemann
